SEND

We are an ideal location for special schools and SEND units. Our historic interiors offer an immersive environment in which to capture the imagination of pupils with additional needs.

We very much welcome people with special needs to visit the Charterhouse! Have a look at our videos on our Families page to see what to expect on your visit.

We can provide a Sensory Pack, including ear defenders, which contain resources and items that might support you on your visit. You are very welcome to look at or borrow the Sensory Pack – please ask at reception on arrival, call us or email museum@thecharterhouse.org to find out more in advance.

We also have on offer a special visual-story guide created by specialists ArtBurst which will help you plan your visit. You can download this here or borrow one from reception on arrival.

We are sorry we do not have specialist staff available so carers and parents would need to share these resources with any SEND visitors they have brought. If you need some help during your visit or you would like to ask a question, just speak to our friendly team sitting on the main reception desk. You can write a message and show them if you prefer.

If at any point the visit gets overwhelming, please let a member of staff know and we can direct you to somewhere quiet.
