Facilities and Access
We are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive environment. While we are a historic site, we strive to ensure our buildings are accessible to all.
Physical Access & Mobility
- Step-Free Areas: Our reception, museum, Chapel, and learning centre are fully wheelchair accessible.
- Guided Tours: Some areas have uneven surfaces or cobbles. Alternative step-free routes are available for every tour stop.
- Lifts & Ramps: A lift in reception provides access to the Great Chamber, and we can provide ramps for wheelchairs as required.
- Note: Please contact us in advance for ramp access on Saturday tours; no notice is required for weekday tours.
- Equipment: Portable chairs are available to borrow.
Sensory & Neurodiversity Resources
- Quiet Spaces: The Chapel is our primary quiet area. Please contact us before your visit to discuss any specific sensory needs.
- Visual Story: Download our Visual Story & Sensory Guide to help plan your visit.
- Large Print: Available within the museum.
- BSL Tours: We host tours with registered BSL guides throughout the year—see What’s On for dates.
Gardens
Most of our courtyard gardens are fully accessible. However there are steps into the Norfolk and Master’s Gardens; please ask our team if you require assistance for step-free access.
