Edward’s Boys return to the Charterhouse following last year’s sold-out performance. Francis Beaumont’s The Knight of the Burning Pestle (1607) is a bawdy comedy that tears the fourth wall to pieces. Blending satire, popular song, and audience collaboration, the play embraces the chaotic spirit of Carnival. While rarely performed today, the script was originally written for a boys’ company, making Edward’s Boys the perfect troupe to bring its mischievous energy and rude vigour back to life.
