The outstanding contribution of our volunteers was recognised at the 2017 London Volunteers in Museums Awards, that took place on 29th September at City Hall.
The Awards, in their 9th edition, are organised by the London Heritage Volunteer Managers Network to celebrate the hard work of thousands of individuals donating their time and skills to museums around London.
Our volunteer, Georgia Crabb, who developed our fantastic Instagram Volunteer Takeover project, was awarded Highly Commended in the Youth Award. The judges highlighted how she translated “the magic of the site into a digital background” by creating a weekly themed photography project, “using her arts background to highlight the beauty of the Charterhouse”.
The Visitor Engagement Volunteer Team were runners-up for the Best Team award, that went to Team CASPA, a project run by the Museum of London Archaeological Archive to engage young volunteers with autism.
Our committed volunteers were key in helping us achieve our annual target of 24,000 visitors three months early. They now have the challenge of helping us reach our new target of 35,000 visitors by the end of the year.
If you visit us, you will be welcomed by one of our fantastic volunteers, so please be sure to say hello!
