Plucked Byrd

Musicke in the Ayre resume their concert series in the Chapel with a programme marking the 400^th anniversary of the death of William Byrd, one of the foremost composers of the Tudor period. Byrd did not write for the lute – most of his secular songs were originally written as part-songs or consort songs: for their “Plucked Byrd” programme soprano Jane Hunt and lutenist Din Ghani will perform some gorgeous examples of his work, arranged for voice and lute. They also include works by his close associates Thomas Tallis and Thomas Morley. Din will also play some of his keyboard music arranged for solo lute.
