Baden-Powell Visits the Charterhouse (1901)

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941) was a lieutenant-general in the British Army who founded the Scout Movement and became the first Chief Scout of The Boy Scouts Association.

He was a pupil at Charterhouse when the school moved to Godalming, Surrey, and was therefore one of few pupils to have attended both facilities.

The following article, dated 1901, regards Baden-Powell’s visit to the Charterhouse after his return to England from South Africa. The photograph above was taken in Master’s Court by Brother Richardson.
